The series itself is based on the game franchise by Idea Factory & Compile Heart. They’re set in the magical world of Gamindustri, where the console wars take on a whole new meaning. Popular game systems are brought to life in the form of cute girls, who must band together to ward off all manner of threats, from hackers to killer eggplants..

The series is a bit tongue-in-cheek, naturally.

In North America, the early games were released by NIS America, though Idea Factory International has since taken the reins on the franchise. The anime adaptation was produced by David Production, and directed by Masahiro Mukai.
