God Eater is based on Namco Bandai’s popular game series of the same name. Takayuki Hirao (Garden of Sinners Episode 5) is directing the show at ufotable, with Keita Shimizu providing character designs.
God Eater faced a number of delays during its broadcast cycle. The title’s premiere was pushed back a week from its scheduled July 12 air date, with a special God Eater Extra 00 program taking its place. The series would finally begin airing on July 19.
Episode 4 was delayed from its scheduled August 2 premiere, with another God Eater Extra program taking its place that week. The episode would hit a week later on August 9.
Episode 6 was pushed back from its scheduled August 23 air date, again replaced by a God Eater Extra special. The episode would air a week later on August 30.
Aniplex of America currently holds the domestic rights to God Eater. Both Crunchyroll and Daisuki have been streaming the show as it airs in Japan.
