Nerdy Talk Episode 36: Happy Disasters!

Hey there, everyone! It’s been a while since we last had one an episode of Nerdy Talk, hasn’t it? Not to worry, though, readers. While we’ve been quiet, we certainly haven’t gone away!

In this episode of Nerdy Talk, we welcome Lydia Rivers to our podcast crew, as we discuss the latest trends in digital anime. Everything’s on the table this time around, from Amazon’s big Noitamina get to the Netflix’s Production I.G. series, to Mike finally admitting that Aniplex did something incredibly right.

I know – we’re as shocked as you are.

Our hosts this week are:

  • Mike Ferreira
  • Anthony Simpson
  • Dorian Chadwick
  • Lydia Rivers

Anyway, it’s great to be back! Give us a listen, and we’ll talk nerdy to you all night long.

This week’s title comes from a fun story from behind the microphone. We had actually gathered together to record the episode on May 7, 2016. It was a fantastic conversation, and we were all near the top of our game. Unfortunately, there was one little problem. Our setup at the time failed to record properly. We were left with 10 seconds of a 3 hour conversation. It was in that moment of deflation that Anthony suggested we call this episode “Happy Disasters” after one of us made a one-off comment on the matter. three days later, we got together, and the rest is history!

Note: We were experimenting with a new recording setup this time around. Unfortuantely, we had a few settings mixed, which means that we caught several sound effects from the chat app. We apologize for this, and we’ve taken steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again going forward.
