NYCC 2016: Voltron: Legendary Defender To Hit Netflix On 1/20/2017

voltron-legendary-defender-001-20161007Rest assured, citizens: the Voltron Force is still coming. They’re just running a little later than expected.

Earlier today, the Voltron: Legendary Defender team announced that the show’s second season will hit Netflix on January 20, 2017. The season was originally slated for a “late 2016” release.

The news was officially unveiled at New York Comic Con’s official Voltron: Legendary Defender panel.

The series is a co-production between Netflix and DreamWorks, which reboots classic anime localization Voltron. Studio Mir, which is best known for its work on Legend of Korra, animated the project.

In an interview with USA Today, co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery noted that DreamWorks is “trying to keep as much of that classic feel to it as we can, because ultimately we have huge amounts of nostalgia for (the original) show.”

Voltron: Legendary Defender‘s first season was released in its entirety on June 10. The show’s team released a teaser for the show’s upcoming second season earlier this week. You can check it out below:
