It seems that not even Netflix’s scheduling can keep the Defender of the Universe down.
Over the weekend, WonderCon hosted a Voltron panel, which featured Voltron: Legendary Defender showrunner Joaquim Dos Santos at the table (among other guests). During the event, Dos Santos confirmed that Voltron: Legendary Defender will get a third season this year.
The show’s second season hinted at Prince Lotor being the next major villain for the show. The guests at the panel backed this up with further teasing. The show’s official Twitter account, meanwhile, had some fun with the tease in an April Fool’s joke

Voltron: Legendary Defender is a co-production between Netflix and DreamWorks. The project reboots the classic anime adaptation, which originally hit the airwaves in 1984. Studio Mir, which is best known for its work on Legend of Korra, animated the project.
Voltron‘s second season hit Netflix on January 20. Dreamworks describes the premise as:
Team Voltron has been scattered throughout the universe in the aftermath of a perilous battle with Zarkon, Haggar and the evil Galra Empire. Working to bring the lions back together to form Voltron again, the Paladins’ plan to defeat the Galra once and for all takes them across the universe in search of new worlds and unexpected allies.
