Funimation Opens Advanced Ticket Sales for Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic, Posts New Dub Trailer

The waves of the Atlantic are about to get a bit darker.

Earlier today, Funimation announced that they opened advanced ticket sales for Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic‘s North American theatrical run. Fans can purchase films through the film’s official web site.

Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic will screen on June 12 and 14, with both the dubbed and subtitled versions slated to hit the silver screen. The subtitled version of the movie will open on June 12, while the dub will début on June 14.

Funimation EVP and COO Mike DuBoise commented on the announcement:

Fans will not want to miss this latest Black Butler mystery brought to life by A-1 Pictures […] We’re pleased to present ‘Black Butler: Book of The Atlantic’ in both subtitled and dubbed versions and we encourage everyone to purchase advance tickets to this limited, two-day release.

In addition to opening ticket sales, Funimation started streaming a two-minute trailer for the film’s dub.

Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic hit Japanese theaters on January 21.

Noriyuki Abe (Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files) directed the film at A-1 Pictures, while Minako Shiba (Madlax, Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE) filled the dual role of character designer and chief animation director. Hiroyuki Yoshino (Accel World, Guilty Crown) wrote the script. Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda was tapped to compose the soundtrack.

Funimation describes the feature as:

All aboard to the next great adventure for Ciel and his demonic butler, Sebastian! After hearing rumors of a peculiar society bringing people back from the dead, the two board the luxury liner Campania on her maiden voyage to investigate. Incognito amongst the mysterious Aurora Society, they find familiar faces and a sight they can’t believe—a woman raised from the dead! But surprise quickly turns to dread when the shambling corpse attacks.

With more questions than answers, Ciel and Sebastian are up against not just one flesh-hungry corpse, but hundreds. Worse yet, the flamboyant reaper Grell and his new partner, Ronald Knox, stand in their way. Time is running out to solve this mystery, and if the demonic duo doesn’t act fast, they’ll be treading some seriously rough waters. Who could be behind this daring necromancy—and are they ready to find out?
