Madman Streams Subtitled Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry Trailer

For those of you who are disappointed, note that I didn’t say a madman.

Madman’s giving one last dose of hype before Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry makes its greater global début. The company started streaming a subtitled version of the film’s second trailer.

The teaser adds English text to the title card, which advertises the film’s theatrical run, and removes a short segment that promoted Japan-exclusive ticket presale bonuses.

Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry will receive a limited theatrical run in Australia and New Zealand, courtesy of Madman Entertainment. Funimation will host the film’s North American début on May 20, at Anime Central.

The film opened in Japan on May 6.

Tatsuma Minamikawa directed the feature at A-1 Pictures, with Yuuko Yamada filling the dual role of character designer and chief animation director. Shoji Yonemura (Smile Precure!) wrote the film’s script. Music was handled by series composer Yasuharu Takanashi. Hiro Mashima storyboarded the film and served as Executive Producer.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Natsu Dragneel: Tetsuya Kakihara
  • Lucy Heartfilia: Aya Hirano
  • Happy: Rie Kugimiya
  • Gray Fullbuster: Yuichi Nakamura
  • Erza Scarlet: Sayaka Ohara
  • Wendy: Satomi Satou
  • Charles: Yui Horie

Funimation describes the film as:

Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry movie brings back your favorite gang—Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Gray, Wendy, and the Exceed sidekicks—for a new tale filled with action, adventure, and hilarious hijinks. When the “Dragon Cry,” a staff with the power to destroy the world, is stolen, there’s only one team of wizards up for the job. Dark secrets, new enemies, and fiery fights await!

The Fairy Tail anime is based on Hiro Mashima’s manga of the same name. Shinji Ishihira (Log Horizon, Super Lovers) directed the series at A-1 Pictures and Satelight, with Aoi Yamamoto (Re-Kan!, On the Way to a Smile – Episode Denzel: Final Fantasy VII) providing character designs. Masashi Sogo (Bleach, The Prince of Tennis) was in charge of series composition.

A key visual, two promo videos, and numerous character visuals were unveiled to promote the feature. You can check it out below:
