Remaining Two Grisaia Trilogy Episodes To Be Animated

Grisaia Sequel Anime Reveal 001 - 20141229

Yesterday’s airing of The Fruit of Grisaia was punctuated with an announcement that the remaining parts of Front Wing and Prototype’s “Grisaia Series” visual novel trilogy would receive anime adaptations. Le Labyrinthe de la Grisaia and Le Eden de la Grisaia will begin airing in spring 2015.

Though no air date was revealed, it was announced that the adaptations will kick off with an hour-long special.

Grisaia Sequel Anime Reveal 002 - 20141229

The original series, Le Fruit de la Grisaia, was adapted in this current anime season. It’s been incredibly well-received in both Japan and North America.

In this light, it comes as little surprise that the rest of the franchise would find an anime adaptation at some point. Still, to see a continuation hitting as early as spring is a pleasant surprise. In this age where sequels hit one, two, even three years later in some cases, it’s good to see these situations, where a show gains a following and seizes that opportunity to really build upon it.

Hopefully, the new shows can capture the magic that really made Le Fruit de la Grisaia click with audiences. The series, which garnered praise for its skillful writing and interesting cast, has big shoes to be filled by the upcoming sequels. Whether they can pull it off, though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
