Earlier tonight, FUNimation announced that they acquired the domestic rights to Ghost in the Shell: Arise – Alternative Architecture. The first episode began streaming at 7:30PM, and new episodes will be added every Sunday at 10:00AM Eastern.
Ghost in the Shell: Arise originally hit the market as a four-episode OVA series, which was released in 2013 and 2014. Ghost in the Shell: Arise – Alternative Architecture is a compilation of the four OVAs, with additional episodes that tie into the upcoming Ghost in the Shell: Shin Gekijōban film.
FUNimation’s official synopsis is as follows:
The Ghost in the Shell: Arise OVA sequence has been rebuilt into eight TV-length episodes and extended with two new broadcast exclusive episodes to create Ghost in the Shell: Arise Alternative Architecture! In this highly anticipated prequel set in the year after the fourth World War, cyborg and hacker Motoko Kusanagi finds herself wrapped up in the investigation of a devastating bombing. But she¹s not the only one looking for answers‹as she delves deeper into the mystery of who is behind the attack, a specialized team unlike any before begins to
take shape.
In March, Bandai began streaming the official commercial for the series.
