The latest issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday revealed that the Ushio & Tora anime will hit Japanese TV on July 3. Currently, only Tokyo MX is confirmed to be carrying the series.
In addition to the première news, the magazine announced that Kinniku Shōjo Tai will provide series opening theme Mazeru na Kiken. The song will be released on CD as a single on August 5.
The Ushio & Tora anime series was first announced in the pages of Weekly Shonen Sunday in February. At the time, it was revealed that the series would be helmed by Satoshi Nishimura (Hajime no Ippo, Trigun) and animated by studios MAPPA and Voln. Tomoko Mori is working on character designs, while Toshiki Inoue (Death Note, Dragon Ball, Ranma ½) handles the show’s scripts.
The confirmed cast for the show is as follows:
- Ushio: Tasuku Hatanaka
- Tora: Rikiya Koyama
- Asako: Mikako Komatsu
- Mayuko: Kiyono Yasuno
- Shigure Aotsuki: Keiji Fujiwara
- Reiko Hanyū: Yui Makino
The list of actors that were confirmed for the show, though their roles weren’t revealed yet are:

- Aki Toyosaki
- Ayahi Takagaki
- Kana Hanazawa
- Maaya Sakamoto
