Wakako Zake Anime Gets Key Visual, Miyuki Sawashiro To Star

A good anime series can be like a good drink. It can be clean and refreshing, or something that can warm you to the depths of your very soul. Wakako Zake aims to find its home in this veritable cabinet of possibilities.

Earlier today, the official Wakako Zake anime website hung out the “Open” sign. With it, came an announcement that Miyuki Sawashiro (Welcome to the NHK, Angel Beats!) will take the lead role as Wakako.

As a tasty side dish, a new key visual for the series was also released:

The Wakako Zake anime series was first announced in March, in the pages of Monthly Comic Zenon magazine. The series will be based on Chie Shinkyū’s manga of the same name. Minoru Yamaoka makes his directorial début on the series, which will be animated by Office DCI.

Wakako Zake will receive a twelve-episode run that will kick off on Tokyo MX and Sun TV on July 5.

The Wakako Zake anime series is the second adaptation, though. A live-action series began airing on Japan’s BS11 network in January.
