It’s almost time to return to the world of Aria.
Earlier today, the official Aria anime website updated with a new key visual for Aria the Avvenire. The visual shows off a pair of new characters that will appear in the film.
The new additions to the cast are Azusa B. McLaren and Anya Dostoyevskaya. Azusa is a rookie Undine (gondolier) who works at Himeya Company. Anya, on the other hand, works for the rival Orange Planet. In addition to the key visual, the official Aria Twitter account tweeted a pair of character designs for Azusa and Anya.
The three-episode special will cover three arcs, two of which are based on manga chapters that were never animated. The three segments include Sono Aitakatta Anata ni…, Sono Atatakana Aayonara wa… and the newly written Sono Harukanaru Mirai e….
Aria The Avvenire was first revealed in February, when Mag Garden opened a teaser page for the project. Director Junichi Sato (Kaleido Star, Sailor Moon, Aria – The Natural) will helm the series, while Reiko Yoshida (The Cat Returns, Bakuman) will handle the scripts.
The original voice cast from the Aria series will return to reprise their roles. The late Tomoko Kawakami, who passed away in 2011, is included in the cast list. Though she has passed on, the team considered her a vital part of the team, and chose to add her name with permission from Sato, Aria creator Kozue Amano, and Kawakami’s agency.
Aria the Avvenire will screen in 11 theaters across Japan on September 26. Advance sales will kick off at theaters on June 20. A teaser was released in April, which you can check out below:
