Utawarerumono: The False Mask Gets Anime Adaptation


Yesterday, the official Utawarerumono website updated with big news. The site revealed that an adaptation of Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen (Utawarerumono: The False Mask) was greenlit for production.

The series will hit Japanese TV this October, and will run for 25 episodes. The series will be directed by Keitaro Motonaga (Jormungand, School Days) and animted by White Fox. Masahiko Nakata, who handled character designs for the first Utawarerumono anime series, will return for the new series.

Munemitsu Suga will serve as Scenario Supervisor, while Takamitsu Kouno will handle script supervision. Naoya Shimokawa and Aquaplus are in charge of the music.

The site also confirms that several cast members from the original game will return to reprise their roles:

  • Haku: Keiji Fujiwara
  • Kuon: Risa Taneda
  • Rurutie: Ai Kakuma
  • Nekone: Inori Minase
  • Ukon: Kentarou Tone
