What’s the summer without a bit of time in the water? Earlier today, the official High Speed! -Free! Starting Days- website began streaming the first teaser video for the film.
High Speed! -Free! Starting Days- will hit theaters on December 5. The film will be directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto (Amagi Brilliant Park) and animated by Kyoto Animation. Free! character designer Futoshi Nishiya will return as character designer on the project.
Nobunaga Shimazaki, who voiced Haruka Nanase in Free!, will reprise his role in the film.
Kyoto Animation’s Free! anime series began airing in July 2013. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. Its sequel, Free! Eternal Summer started airing in two years later, in July 2015. FUNimation acquired the domestic rights to the title, which they announced shortly after the première.
High Speed! -Free! Starting Days- is based on Hiroko Utsumi’s light novel High Speed!, which was loosely adapted into the original Free! Iwatobi Swim Club anime series.
A key visual was released in March, which you can check out below:
