Earlier today, FUNimation announced that they acquired the American rights to the live-action Attack on Titan movies. The company will release the films across North, Central, and South America.
In addition, FUNimation is partnering with Japanese producer Toho to host the world première in Los Angeles, California. A special screening of the first film will be held at the Egyptian Theatre on July 14. The film will be presented in its original Japanese, with English subtitles at the event.
The Attack on Titan première will be a red carpet event, with Higuchi and actors Haruma Miura (Eren) and Kiko Mizuhara (Mikasa) attending as guests.
Shinji Higuchi will also be attending this year’s Sand Diego Comic Con. He’ll host an autograph session on July 12, at 1:00PM at FUNimation’s booth.
The first Attack on Titan film will open in Japan on August 1, followed by its sequel on September 19. In North America, the films are slated to open later this fall. Both features were directed by Shinji Higuchi, and feature direct involvement by series creator Hajime Isayama.
