Earlier today, Variety reported that Lionsgate is working on an American film adaptation of Naruto. The studio recently closed a deal for the film rights to Masashi Kishimoto’s manga.

Michael Gracey, a former digital effects artist, is being tapped to direct the feature. While Gracey previously worked in effects and animation previously, he is attached to a number of projects as director  in the near future. Notable films include an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches and Elton John biopic Rocketman.

Avi Arad and his son Ari Arad are producing the feature through Arad Productions, while Erik Feig, Geoff Shaveitz and Kelly O’Malley will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
