Production I.G. Working On Joker Game Anime Series


Joker Game Book Cover 001 - 20150807Soon, the mysteries of the Joker will unravel, and Production I.G. wants us to tag along.

The latest issue of Newtype magazine revealed that Production I.G. is working on an anime adaptation of Koji Yanagi’s Joker Game. The series will be directed by Kazuya Nomura (Robotics;Notes, Sengoku Basara – Samurai Kings: The Movie), with character designs by Shirow Miwa (Dogs: Bullets & Carnage).

While they’re not active as of press time, Joker Game will also receive a website and a Twitter account in the near future.

Joker Game is a series of mystery novels set in World War II Japan. The title, which spans three volumes, won numerous awards over the course of its publication. Accolades include both the Mystery Writers of Japan Award and Yoshikawa Eiji Prize for New Writers award.

In January, a live-action adaptation of Joker Game hit Japanese theaters. The film, which was directed by Yu Irie, grossed ¥271 million ($2.18 million) in its opening weekend.
