Crunchyroll got a dose of the hot spring life, and a sci-fi adventure.
Earlier today, Crunchyroll added Hakone and Utawarerumono -Itsuwari no Kamen- to their streaming lineup. Both shows made their debuts to the service earlier today.
Episodes of Hakone will be added to Crunchyroll every Sunday, at 9:30AM Pacific (12:30PM Eastern), while Utawarerumono will stream on Saturdays at 10:30AM Pacific (1:30M Eastern).
Hakone is based on Daisuke Yui’s Onsen Yōsei Hakone-chan manga. The series is being directed by Takeyuki Yanase (Himegoto), while studios Asahi Production and Production Reed produce the animation. Scripts are being handled by the team of Korie Tomonaga and Momoko Murakami, and Takeyuki Yanase is serving as character designer.
The series is available to Crunchyroll members outside of Asian territories.

Based on the manga Onsen Yosei Hakone-chan by Daisuke Yui, Hakone is about the hot spring spirit Hakone whodescended to a spa resort on Earth. Due to her long slumber however, she now looks like a little girl. High school boy Toya stumbles across her at a hot spring and ends up helping Hakone retrieving her original powers.
The anime features Saki Ono, also known as President Unko from Himegoto, as the titular Hakone, and Taishi Murata, who also voiced Shun Ibusaki in Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, as Toya. The opening theme song will be “Hakone Hakoiri Musume” sing by petit milady.
Utawarerumono -Itsuwari no Kamen- is based on the visual novel of the same name by Aquaplus. Keitaro Motonaga (Jormungand) is directing the title at White Fox, with Masahiko Nakata (Tears to Tiara) providing character designs. Takamitsu Kouno is in charge of series composition.
Utawarerumono -Itsuwari no Kamen- is available to Crunchyroll members in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Latin America, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and Turkey.

Based off of the second game in the Utawarerumono series, UTAWARERUMONO –Itsuwari no Kamen- features a nameless protagonist that wakes up in the middle of a vast, snowy plain he doesn’t recognize. Not only that, but he is suffering from amnesia and doesn’t even remember who he is. Suddenly, he gets attacked by an insect-like creature, but is saved by a girl with animal ears and tail named Kuon, who decides to name him Haku.
The cast includes Keiji Fujiwara, who also voiced Maes Hughes in the Fullmetal Alchemist series and Leorio in the 2011 animation of Hunter x Hunter, as Haku, and Risa Taneda, Mirai Kuriyama in Beyond the Boundary and Rory Mercury inGATE, as Kuon. Both the opening and ending theme songs will be sung by Suara, with “Fuantei na Kamisama” as the opening, and “Yumekautsutsuka” as the ending.
