This story appears to have reached its ending.
Yesterday, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office dropped all charges against 38-year-old writer Tow Ubukata. The division took a number of factors into consideration, including Ubukata’s wife’s desire to not press charges.
Ubukata was arrested on August 24, on allegations of domestic violence against his wife. According to the police, Ubukata’s wife claimed that her husband hit her in the jaw and areas around her mouth. The alleged assault was said to have taken place on August 21 at 7:00PM local time, leading to a broken tooth.
Ubukata denied the allegations, commenting that “it’s true that we quarreled, but I did not hit her.”
Tow Ubukata is an author and scriptwriter, who is best known for creating Mardock Scramble and writing the screenplays for Ghost in the Shell: Arise. More recently, Ubukata handled series composition and script writing duties for Psycho-Pass 2.
