The Nurse Witch is back, and she’s making house calls!
Earlier today, Tatsunoko Promotion announced that a new Nurse Witch Komugi anime series is in the works. The show, titled Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R, will begin airing in January 2016.
Though the show is based on the original Nurse Witch Komugi, the series will update the characters and cast.
The show’s official website describes the show as follows:
Komugi Yoshida is a fairly clumsy second-year middle school student whose spirited nature is her strongest point. She works as an idol, much like her classmate and friend Kokona Saionji and cross-dressing idol Tsukasa Kisaragi. Unlike Kokona, whose popularity is skyrocketing, and Tsukasa, who rocks her charisma in male attire, Komugi’s gigs tend to be low-end affairs in places like the local shopping district. Still, she has a “dream” as she lives the dual life of an idol and a middle schooler.
One day, a mysterious injured creäture named Usa-P appears before Komugi. Komugi aids the strange creäture, and Usa-P, touched by Komugi’s kindness, asks if she’d like to be a Legendary Girl with magical powers. [In plain English, a magical girl -ED]
As a reluctant Legendary Girl, Komugi must do battle with strange masked figures who suddenly appear! As the newly-minted Nurse Witch, she faces still more waves of masked marauders. Meanwhile, a Magical Maid, a Magical Sister, and others also appear to join a three-way battle!? Can Komugi take on three roles, straddlign the duties of middle school student, idol, and Nurse Witch? And, what lies ahead in these battles and her “dream” …!?
The series will be helmed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Hayate the Combat Butler), with character designs by Takao Sano (Chitose Get You!!). The team of Momoko Murakami and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is writing the screenplay, while Kousuke Yamashita provides the show’s music.

Haruko Momoi played the role of Komugi in the original OVA series, as well as The SoulTaker.
Nurse Witch Komugi is a spinoff of 2001 series The SoulTaker. The series spans three OVA series and a two-volume manga by Rei Nakajima. In 2004, PlayStation 2 game Nurse Witch Komugi-chan Magical te hit Japanese retailers.
