Crunchyroll digivolves into Tristream!
Because they’re streaming Digimon Adventure tri. Get it? …I’ll just… show myself out.
Earlier today, Crunchyroll announced that they will stream Digimon Adventure tri. The first four episodes will be made available to Premium subscribers on November 20, at 7:00 Pacific (10:00AM Eastern). Future installments will be added at an unspecified date in Winter 2016 .
Crunchyroll will distribute Digimon Adventure tri. in the following territories:
- United States
- Canada
- South Africa
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Latin America
In Japan, Digimon Adventure tri. is slated to be a series of six theatrical films. The feature will the first open in theaters on November 21.
The original cast for the Digimon partners will return for the series, with the full list being as follows:
- Agumon: Chika Sakamoto
- Gabumon: Mayumi Yamaguchi
- Piyomon: Katori Shigematsu
- Gomamon: Junko Takeuchi
- Palmon: Kinoko Yamada
- Patamon: Miwa Matsumoto
- Tentomon: Takahiro Sakurai
- Tailmon: Yuka Tokumitsu
The human characters, on the other hand, were recast. The confirmed cast is as follows:
- Taichi Yagami: Natsuki Hanae
- Yamato Ishida: Yoshimasa Hosoya
- Sora Takenouchi: Suzuko Mimori
- Kōshirō Izumi: Mutsumi Tamura
- Mimi Tachikawa: Hitomi Yoshida
- Jō Kido: Junya Ikeda
- Takeru Takaishi: Junya Enoki
- Hikari Yagami: MAO
- Daigo Nishijima: Daisuke Namikawa
- Maki Himekawa: Yuko Kaida
Keitaro Motonaga (Magic Knight Rayearth OVA, Jormungand) is directing the film, while Yuuko Kakihara (Heaven’s Lost Property) serves as script supervisor. Character designs will be provided by Atsuya Uki (Cencoroll).
Crunchyroll describes Digimon Adventure tri. as follows:
It’s been six years since that summer adventure when Taichi Yagami and the rest of the DigiDestined crossed over to the Digital World. And nearly three years have passed since the final battle between Hikari Yagami’s group and BelialVamdemon. As the peaceful days passed by, at some point the gate to the Digital World closed. Not even the DigiDestined know what caused this, and time alone continues to pass.
On one such day, a Kuwagamon suddenly appears in Odaiba. Its rampage leaves the town in ruins, and the people there in turmoil. Taichi happens to catch sight of the Kuwagamon, and he chases after it all by himself in an effort to halt its rampage. But there’s nothing he can do against a Kuwagamon. It’s no use… I can’t do anything about this alone…”
Just as the Kuwagamon roars and attacks Taichi, his Digivice begins to emit a bright light…”Taichi, look how big you’ve grown!”With the sound of that nostalgic voice, the story once again begins to move in a big way.
