Sound! Euphonium Teaser, Premiere Date, Key Visual Unveiled


Who’s ready for another semester at Kitauji High School?

Earlier today, the official Sound! Euphonium anime website updated with a new teaser for upcoming film Gekijō-ban Hibike! Euphonium ~ Kitauji Kōkō Suisōraku-Bu e Yōkoso~ (Sound! Euphonium the Movie: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band~). The 30-second teaser offers a brief animation sample, as well as a confirmation that the film will hit Japanese theaters on April 23, 2016.

In addition, the site updated with a new key visual for the project:

Advance tickets will be sold at select theaters starting on December 19. Fans who purchase their tickets at one of the 39 theatres will receive one of four clear folders, which feature artwork of the film’s characters.

Gekijō-ban Hibike! Euphonium ~ Kitauji Kōkō Suisōraku-Bu e Yōkoso~ will cover the events of the original anime series, recounting the events that led Kitauji High’s concert band to the prefectural band competition. A sequel is also in the works, which will explore the events that occur after the first season’s finale.

Sound! Euphonium aired during the spring broadcast season. The 13-episode series was directed by Tatsuya Ishihara (Clannad After Story, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions) at Kyoto Animation. Pony Canyon currently holds the rights to the series, and is planning a Blu-Ray release. In addition to the physical release, Crunchyroll is streaming the series in its entirety on the company’s streaming platform.
