It looks like Discotek tossed out the life preservers once again!
Earlier today, Discotek Media announced that they acquired the domestic rights to Dai-Guard and Requiem From The Darkness. The company intends to release both titles on DVD, with Requiem From The Darkness hitting in February 2016, and Dai-Guard shipping in March.
Requiem From The Darkness was originally released in North America by Geneon. The 13-episode series originally hit Japanese TV in 2003, though western network TechTV aired the show in 2007 as part of its Anime Unleashed block. Hideki Tonokatsu (Silent Möbius) directed the title at TMS Entertainment, while Shigeyuki Miya (Supernatural: The Anime Series) provided character designs. Scripts were written by Hiroshi Takahashi, Sadayuki Murai, Yoshinaga Fujioka, and Yuu Kanbara.
The series is available in its entirety on Hulu.
ADV Films originally released Dai-Guard in North America. The 26-episode series originally aired on Japanese TV in 1999, with the first two episodes hitting Cartoon Network in the United States in 2003. Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, The Slayers NEXT) directed the title at Xebec, with Fumihiko Shimo (Air, Clannad, Full Metal Panic!) working on series composition. Character designs were provided by Mitsuru Ishihara (D.I.C.E.).
Editor’s note: While not entirely related, Dai-Guard has one of the most weirdly catchy opening themes in recent memory. Check it out below!
