Unhappy♪ Main Voice Cast Announced

It’s the weekend! Now’s not the time to be Unhappy♪!

Earlier today, the official Unhappy♪ anime website updated with a list of the show’s main cast. The series will star the following:

  • An “Hanako” Hanakoizumi: Yumiri Hanamori
  • Ruri “Hibari” Hibarigaoka: Haruka Shiraishi
  • Botan Kumegawa: Kiyono Yasuno
  • Hibiki Hagyū: Hibiku Yamamura
  • Ren Ekoda: Mayu Yoshioka

In addition, character visuals for each cast member were released, which you can check out below:

Shin Oonuma (Watamote, Baka and Test) will helm the series at Silver Link, with Miwa Oshima (Baka and Test) filling the dual role of character designer and chief animation director. Go! Princess Precure writer Hitoshi Tanaka is in charge of the show’s scripts.

Unhappy♪ is based on Cotoji’s Unhappy Go Lucky! manga series. The title, which kicked off in the February 2013 issue of Manga Time Kirara Forward, is a four-panel comedy series. The title is set in Class 1-7 of Tennogofune Academy. This particular class is a home for students with “negative karma.”

In plain English, it’s a class for the truly unlucky.

It’s in this class, though, that Hibari finds herself. On the first day of school, she meets Hanako, a girl plagued with the most horrific of luck, and the perennially sickly Botan. Together, the three try to find a way to make the best of their existence, by turning their school life into a happy one.

Actresses Yumiri Hanamori, Haruka Shiraishi, and Kiyono Yasuno will perform on in a special to promote the upcoming show. The program, titled “Unhappy Merry Christmas♪ Nico Live,” will stream on December 25 at 9:00PM JST (7:00AM Eastern).

That Time I Saw Nagito Komaeda At Whole Foods

It isn’t unusual for me to see anime characters in my neighborhood. I live near a DC metro stop that’s crammed with hotels, so Anime USA and Blerdcon take place here. To be honest, that’s probably why I shouldn’t have been surprised to see Nagito Komaeda at Whole Foods. I was out of Dino Nuggets […]
