This dog’s almost ready to have its day!
Earlier today, the official Under The Dog anime website started streaming a short series of scenes from the feature. The 30-second video shows four cuts from the project, with a disclaimer that the final result may look different in the final release.
The video also confirms that the show’s staff is shooting for a May 2016 release for project backers.
The project’s website also revealed the two new members of the voice cast. Haruka Takahashi was tapped to play Sayuri, while Naomi Ōzora is slated to play Estella. The two actors join three previously confirmed roles, which include:
- Anthea Kallenberg: Asami Seto
- Hana Togetsu: Rumi Ookubo
- Shunichi Nanase: Kouki Uchiyama
Both new members were chosen by backers via a poll.
Under the Dog is an original anime feature, which first entered the anime world as a Kickstarter project. Backers raised a total of $878,028 to ensure that the feature would be produced. Masahiro Ando (Sword of the Stranger, Blast of Tempest) is directing the feature at Kinema Citrus. Character designs are being provided by Yuusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem: Awakening), while Orange Co. (Ghost in the Shell: Arise) provides 3D CG animation.
The Under the Dog team released a one-minute teaser in September, which you can check out below.
