Earlier today, Crunchyroll announced that they will stream the third season of Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories on their digital platform. The series, which premieres on January 10 at 12:35PM Pacific (3:35PM Eastern), will be available to Crunchyroll subscribers outside of Asia.

Takashi Taniguchi and Tomohisa Ishikawa will helm the season at studio ILCA, while studio Anima provides CG animation. Hiromu Kumamoto, who provided scripts for the previous two seasons, will return to reprise his role with series newcomer Satoko Kishi.

Actors Ryota Murai, Kanji Tsuda, and Risa Aizawa, who were regulars in the previous seasons, are also slated to return to the project.

Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:

The thrilling horror series returns for a third season, and promises even more Japanese ghost stories and urban legends. These stories are framed in each episode by an old man telling these tales to schoolchildren using kamishibai, a traditional Japanese method of storytelling using paper scrolls.

Sentai Filmworks announced that they licensed Yamishibai in December. The first two seasons of the series currently stream in their entirety on Crunchyroll.
