The world needs more sci-fi detective action.
Earlier today, Discotek Media revealed that they acquired the 8 Man After OVA series. The company will release the series on in dubbed and subtitled formats on DVD.
The company revealed the news on the latest episode of Anime News Network’s ANNCast podcast.
8 Man After is a four-episode OVA series, which continues the story of 1963 TV series 8-Man. Both titles adapt Kazumasa Hirai & Jiro Kuwata’s manga of the same name. Yoriyasu Kogawa (Darkside Blues, Earthian) directed the series at Ashi Productions and J.C. Staff. Kenichi Ohnuki (Garzey’s Wing, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed C.E.73: Stargazer) provided character designs, and Yasushi Hirano wrote the screenplay.
Streamline Pictures originally licensed the 1993 OVA, which they released on VHS in 1994. Image Entertainment released the title on dub-only DVD in 2001. Discotek’s release will be the first time that 8 Man After will hit North American shores in subtitled format.
