So… can we call this “shockingly sweet”?

The latest issue of Kodansha’s Good! Afternoon magazine, as well as Volume 6 of Gido Amagakure’s Sweetness and Lightning (Amaama to Inazuma) manga revealed that an anime adaptation of the title is in the works. According to the publications, Tarou Iwasaki (One Week Friends) will direct the title at TMS Production.

The currently confirmed cast includes:

  • Kouhei Inuzuka: Yuichi Nakamura
  • Tsumugi Inuzuka: Rina Endou
  • Kotori Iida: Saori Hayami

Sweetness and Lightning began publication in Good! Afternoon magazine in September 2013. The title currently spans five volumes, with the six due to hit retailers on March 7. Kodansha Comics released the first four volumes to in the west, while Crunchyroll publishes titles as they’re released in Japan.

Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:

Having lost his wife, math teacher Kouhei Inuzuka is doing his best to raise his young daughter Tsumugi as a single father. He’s pretty bad at cooking and doesn’t have a huge appetite to begin with, but chance brings his little family and one of his students, Kotori Iida, together for homemade adventures. With those three cooks in the kitchen, it’s no wonder this dinner table drama is so delicious.
