Crunchyroll To Stream 2016 “Berserk” Anime


All of the Berserk fans say “Yooooooooooo!”

Crunchyroll announced that they will stream the 2016 Berserk anime series. The show will hit the company’s digfital platform this summer, though a specific premeire date has yet to be announced.

In addition to the streaming news, Crunchyroll unveiled a new visual for the series, which you can check out below:

Earlier this year, series creator Kentarou Miura revealed that the project will feature Guts in his “Black Swordsman” role, which hasn’t appeared in an animated adaptation to date. He also noted that the Berserk manga will go on hiatus, with the next chapter hitting “around” summer 2016. When it returns, the Berserk manga will be published as an irregular series.

Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:

An immensely popular fantasy comic, with over 40 million copies in print worldwide, Berserk’s anime adaptation begins airing this July!

Boasting a deep story, fascinating characters, overwhelming and intricate art, and an unparalleled creative flair, it makes a strong impact on reader hearts and lives. It’s a fantasy comic that has fascinated not only Japanese readers, but people all over the world, and is widely considered to be one of the leading comics of all time. Packed to the brim with top-notch action, romance, spectacular scenes, and drama, it is sure to entertain the audience!

Miura Kentarou’s “Berserk” is currently serialized in Seinen Comics Magazine Young Animal. Volume 38 releases June 24th!

Shin Itagaki, who directed Ben-To and Black Cat, is in the director’s chair at Liden Films. Hisashi Abe (Sorcerer Hunters, Gunslinger Girl) is in charge of character designs on the project, while Shiro Sagisu (Berserk: The Golden Age, Neon Genesis Evangelion) scores the soundtrack. Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass: The Movie) is in charge of Series Composition, with Takashi Yamashita serving as his assistant.
