Netflix To Stream Magi: Adventure of Sinbad Worldwide

Earlier today, Netflix announced that they are the exclusive streaming provider for Magi: Adventure of Sinbad. The show will begin streaming in Japan tomorrow, with new episodes being added weekly.

Netflix will stream Magi: Adventure of Sinbad outside of Japan at a later date.

Magi: Adventure of Sinbad (Magi: Sinbad no Bōken) is a prequel to Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. The series, which is based on Yoshifumi Ōtera’s manga of the same name, received five OVA episodes that were released with volumes of the manga. Yoshikazu Miyao (Inazuma Eleven) directed the OVA seires at studio Lay-duce. Souichirou Sako handled character designs on the projects, while Silver Spoon writer Taku Kishimoto handled the scripts. Tomohiro Ōkubo produced the musical scores.

Miyao, Kishimoto, and Ōkubo all returned to work on the TV series.

Netflix Header 001- 20151104Daisuke Ono, who played Sinbad in the previous adaptations of Magi will reprise his role in the new series. Other announced cast members include:

  • Serendine: Ai Kayano
  • Badr: Katsuyuki Konishi
  • Esura: Yoko Hikasa
  • Barbarossa: Takehito Koyasu
  • Baal: Hiroki Tōchi
  • Jaafar: Takahiro Sakurai
  • Hinahoho: Keiji Fujiwara
  • Pipirika: Ayumi Fujimura

Magi: Adventure of Sinbad kicked off on April 15 on MBS, TBS, CBC, and BS-TBS. The show is currently airing during the “Animeism” programming block.

Netflix is also streaming Kuromukuro as an exclusive title this season.
