Crackle will add all 95 episodes of the original Robotech TV series, as well as 2005 film Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles to their platform on May 15.

Robotech 001 - 20141004Robotech is Harmony Gold’s adaptation of three anime series: Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA. The series, which first aired on American airwaves in 1985, was written by the team of Carl Macek and Steve Kramer.

A live-action Robotech film is currently in the works. Sony acquired the film rights to the property last March. At the time, the publication confirmed that Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton (300, The Immortals) will serve as producers on the project. The script is being handled by Michael Gordon (300, G.I. Joe). James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring) was tapped to direct.

Crackle recently revamped their digital platform to offer linear channels. The company is offering “multiplex channels” in genres such as anime, comedy, and action as part of their ad-supported platform.
