Your name, like many others, has the potential to become something more than a few nondescript words.
Earlier today, the Kimi no Na wa. (Your Name.) film staff announced that Masami Nagasawa and Etsuko Ichihara will join the film’s cast. Nagasawa will play Miki in the film, while Ichihara was cast as Hitoha.
A pair of stills from the film were unveiled to introduce the new cast members:
Sankei Sports notes that Kimi no Na wa. marks the first time Nagasawa and Ichihara will work together on a film, though the two won’t share any scenes. The two join a pair of previously-announced cast members:
- Mitsuha Miyamizu: Mone Kamishiraishi
- Taki Tachibana: Ryunosuke Kamiki
Kimi no Na wa. is an original film from Makoto Shinkai (5 Centimeters per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices), who is directing the feature at CoMix Wave Films. Shinkai is also penning the script, while Masayoshi Tanaka (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, High School of the Dead) provides character designs.
The film will hit Japanese theaters on August 26. A preview screening will be held at the Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills, which will feature a greeting from Taki Tachibana, Mitsuha Miyamizu Masami Nagasawa, Etsuko Ichihara, and Makoto Shinkai.
Last month, the team unveiled a 90-second teaser trailer, which you can check out below:
