Legendary swordsman Guts has awoken from his slumber. Now onward, to battle!

Earlier today, the official Berserk anime website updated with a new promotional video. The 105-second teaser gives a brief introduction to the series, with opening theme Inferno by Parabellum Bullet as the background musical track.

Earlier this year, series creator Kentarou Miura revealed that the project will feature Guts in his “Black Swordsman” role, which hasn’t appeared in an animated adaptation to date. He also noted that the Berserk manga will go on hiatus, with the next chapter hitting “around” summer 2016. Yesterday, Young Animal magazine revealed that the manga would return on March 24, as a monthly publication.

Berserk Visual 001 - 20151224The Berserk anime will début on WOWOW on July 1, at 10:30PM local time. The series will air a week later on the following networks:

Crunchyroll will simulcast Berserk on their digital platform. The company describes the show as follows:

Miura Kentarou’s “Berserk” is currently serialized in Seinen Comics Magazine Young Animal. Volume 38 releases June 24th!

Shin Itagaki (Ben-To, Black Cat) is in the director’s chair at Liden Films, with Hisashi Abe (Sorcerer Hunters, Gunslinger Girl) providing character designs. Makoto Fukami (Psycho-Pass: The Movie) is in charge of series composition, with Takashi Yamashita serving as his assistant. Shiro Sagisu (Berserk: The Golden Age, Neon Genesis Evangelion) is scoring the soundtrack.
