Good evening, readers, and welcome to an all-new AniWeekly! As you know, the gaming world is abuzz with excitement this week, as the biggest video games industry trade show of the year descends upon Los Angeles. E3 is upon us again, which means that the news this week will be packed with gaming news and reveals!

Before we begin, though, I’d like to take a few minutes to bring up today’s events. In Orlando, Florida, a gunman opened fire in the Pulse Nightclub, a gay club. Fifty were killed and many more were injured in the massacre, which is being billed the deadliest shooting in the history of the United States. I want to extend my deepest condolences to those who have been affected by this tragic turn of events.

In The News

Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand! The folks at Media Blasters unveiled the first cast members for their Rio – Rainbow Gate! dub. Amber Lee Connors will take the lead role as Rio, while Vic Mignogna plays Elvis. The company also released a 3-minute dub teaser, which sees the cast members in an extreme game of roulette.

My name is what? The staff for Makoto Shinkai’s Kimi no Na wa. revealed two new cast members. Masami Nagasawa and Etsuko Ichihara will join the team.

Section 9, roll out! DreamWorks’s Ghost in the Shell film is currently shooting in Hong Kong. Entertainment site HK01 spied the team on the set, in full costume, with Scarlett Johansson and Pilou Asbaek appearing as The Major and Batou, respectively.

Avekkusu! Mode-o! Japanese media label Avex opened a pair of subsidiaries in North America. Both companies were granted $1 million in capital, and are tasked with growing talent for export to Japan and Asia.

I’m goin’ Berserk! The official Berserk anime website updated with several new cast reveals, as well as a new key visual. The real highlight, though, was the 105-second teaser that features opening theme Inferno by Parabellum Bullet as the background musical track.

The Death Note beckons once again. Variety reported that Keith Stanfield will join the cast of the live-action Death Note film. The feature, which is being produced by Netflix, will have a $40-$50 million budget when it enters production this month.

As we’re now in E3 week, I felt that this was oddly appropriate. It’s an old NicoNico classic, which saw one devoted creator setting up an auto-Mario level that plays 11-minute anthem Kumikyoku Nico Nico Douga with its sound effects.
