Anime Expo 2016: Funimation Acquires Makoto Shinkai’s “Your Name.”

Earlier today, at Anime Expo’s “Makoto Shinkai’s your name. World Premiere & Panel”, host Lisle Wilkerson revealed that Funimation acquired the North American rights to Makoto Shinkai’s your name. (Kimi no na wa.). As of press time, no details on the license have been unveiled.

Your Name. is an original film from Makoto Shinkai (5 Centimeters per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices), who is directing the feature at CoMix Wave Films. Shinkai is also penning the script, while Masayoshi Tanaka (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, High School of the Dead) provides character designs.

  • Mitsuha Miyamizu: Mone Kamishiraishi
  • Taki Tachibana: Ryunosuke Kamiki
  • Sayaka Natori: Aoi Yūki
  • Hitoha: Etsuko Ichihara
  • Hitoha Miyamizu: Etsuko Ichihara
  • Yotsuba Miyamizu: Kanon Tani
  • Miki: Masami Nagasawa
  • Miki Okudera: Masami Nagasawa
  • Tsukasa Fujii: Nobunaga Shimazaki
  • Katsuhiko Teshigawara: Ryō Narita

The film will make its global debut at Anime Expo. In Japan, Your Name. will open on August 26. A preview screening will be held at the Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills, which will feature a greeting from Taki Tachibana, Mitsuha Miyamizu Masami Nagasawa, Etsuko Ichihara, and Makoto Shinkai.
