Viz Media To Release “Hunter x Hunter” DVD & Blu-Ray In Late 2016


Gon’s taking the Hunter Exam to fans’ homes later this year!

Viz Media handed out promotional cards to promote Hunter x Hunter at Anime Expo 2016. According to the card, the first part of the series will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in late 2016. As of press time, no specific release date has been announced.

The 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime was the second adaptation of Yoshihiro Togashi’s long-running manga series. Hiroshi Koujina helmed the show at Madhouse, with Takahiro Yoshimatsu providing character designs. The series premiered in October 2011, and ran for 148 episodes.

Viz Media announced that they licensed Hunter x Hunter last October, at New York Comic Con. Crunchyroll streamed the show as it aired in Japan.

Hunter x Hunter officially joined the Toonami lineup on April 16. The first thirteen episodes have been shown since the series made its début, with each episode attracting between 820,000 and 1.2 million viewers.
