Viz Media & TubiTV Start Streaming Sailor Moon In Canada

Sailor Moon Visual 001 - 20160718In the name of the moon, she’ll bring the hype to Canada!

On July 15, Viz Media announced that they’ve partnered with video platform TubiTV to stream the original Sailor Moon anime series. All 200 episodes of the series are currently available on the service in subtitled format.

Naturally, this spans all five series:

  • Sailor Moon
  • Sailor Moon R
  • Sailor Moon S
  • Sailor Moon Super S
  • Sailor Moon Stars

Viz Media announced that they acquired the domestic rights to the entire run of the original Sailor Moon, as well as Sailor Moon Crystal in May 2014. The company will release all 200 episodes, three feature films, and myriad specials in the franchise.

Sailor Moon is based on Naoko Takeuchi’s manga of the same name. The series, which ran from 1992 through 1997, saw Kunihiko Ikuhara (PenguindrumRevolutionary Girl Utena), Junichi Satō (Aria The Animation, Magic User’s Club!), and Takuya Igarashi (Bungo Stray DogsSoul Eater) take the helm through the course of the show’s run. Toei Animation produced the title’s animation.

Viz will released Sailor Moon R‘s first set on DVD and Blu-Ray on July 14, 2016 and the second set hit retailers on October 27. Sailor Moon S is due to hit stores on November 15. The company released an extended trailer for the release earlier this month:

Update 7/19/2016: We mistakenly reported that Viz made the announcement on July 18. They actually made the announcement on July 15. We apologize for the inaccuracy.
