New Brave Witches Visual Shows Off 502nd Squadron

Troops, fall in! The War on Pants is about to dust up again, and reinforcements are needed ASAP!

Earlier today, the official Brave Witches anime website updated with a new visual for the series. The image features the main members of the 502nd “Brave Witches” Joint Fighter Wing squadron.

Brave Witches will hit Japanese TV this fall. The show is a spinoff of Strike Witches, which focuses on the 502nd “Brave Witches” Joint Fighter Wing squadron. Strike Witches director Kazuhiro Takamura will return to direct the series at Silver Link, while also filling the role of character designer. Striker Unit is credited with series composition, while Humikane Shimada is listed as original character designer.

Brave Witches Visual 001 - 20160402Takaaki Suzuki will return to the project as a military history advisor, while also crafting the overall world setting. Strike Witches mechanical designer Hiroyuki Terao will also return to the project, while Tomohiro reprises his role as sound director. Tsuyoshi Kikuchi (Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn, Haruchika – Haruta & Chika) and Daijō Kudō (Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn, Haruchika – Haruta & Chika) are planning the series.

The confirmed voice cast includes:

  • Hikari Karibuchi: Ai Kakuma
  • Takami Karibuchi: Rie Suegara
  • Naoe Kanno: Rie Murakawa
  • Nikka Edvardine Katajainen: Natsumi Takamori
  • Waltrud Krupinski: Kayo Ishida
  • Alexsandra Ivanovna Pokryshkin: Yumi Hara
  • Georgette Lemare: Haruka Terui
  • Sadako Shimohara: Marin Mizutani
  • Edytha Rossmann: Hiromi Igarashi
  • Gundula Rall: Rina Sato

The first Strike Witches anime was an OVA by Gonzo, which hit Japanese retailers in 2007. Kunihisa Sugishima helmed the project.

Strike Witches first hit Japanese TV in the summer 2008 anime season. Kazuhiro Takamura directed the project at Gonzo, while also serving as character designer. Tsuyoshi Tamai (Inukami!, Ladies versus Butlers!) took charge of series composition. The series would go on to span two TV series, a theatrical film, and a three-episode OVA titled Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow.

In June, the show’s staff unveiled a new promotional video, which introduces viewers to the world and cast of the series.
