Digital diva (and proud nine-year-old) Hatsune Miku shared the world with fans. Now, she’s here to share your bank account!
Japanese bank Sumitomo Mitsui announced that they’re partnering with Crypton Future Media to create a new credit card aimed at fans of the virtual idol. The new Hatsune Miku MasterCard will feature a unique design that places the digital diva front and center.
The card includes a points program, with rewards that are aimed at Vocaloid devotees. The listed bonuses include:
- 600 Points: Hatsune Miku Card Case (Limited, 100)
- 1,000 Points: Graphic T-Shirt (Limited 100)
- 5,000 Points: Hatsune Miku Luggage (Limited 50)

To entice people to apply, Sumitomo Mitsui will offer limited-edition freebies to early bird applicants.
- The first 3,000 applicants will receive a file folder with the card’s design
- The first 2,000 applicants who include the “iD” e-currency option will receive an iD sticker featuring Miku
In addition, Sumitomo is hosting a raffle incentive. Folks who spend 70,000 yen ($688.84 USD) or more between September 9 and December 31 will be entered to win a limited-edition Nendoroid Jumbo Hatsune Miku figure (Metallic Version). The contest will also be open to folks who carry a Sumitomo Hatsune Miku Visa, which was issued last year.
Sumitomo and Crypton will be accepting early applications for the card at this year’s Hatsune Miku Magical Mirai 2016 event. Magical Mirai 2016 will be held at Chiba’s Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall from September 9 – 11.
Sumitomo will begin accepting standard card applications on the company’s website starting September 14.
