Earlier today, Funimation announced that they acquired the license for One Piece Film: Gold. Funimation Films will give the film a limited theatrical run in the United States and Canada, which will run from January 10 – 17, 2017.

Tickets aren’t yet available, but details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Funimation CEO Gen Fukunaga commented on the news, stating:

Fans have been clamoring for news on ‘One Piece Film: Gold’ and we’re excited to announce that we’ll be bringing this blockbuster movie to U.S. and Canadian audiences [… ] We’re confident that this film will create a new generation of fans for the franchise as well as grow the audience for its animated series.

One Piece Film: Gold made its global opening on July 15, at the UAE’s Emirates Palace. The feature opened in Japanese theaters on July 23. Hiroaki Miyamoto (One Piece, Dream 9 Toriko & One Piece & Dragon Ball Z Cho Collaboration Special!!) directed the feature at Toei Animation, with Masayuki Sato (HappinessCharge PreCure!, Gilgamesh) providing character designs. Tsutomu Kuroiwa (GANTZ:O, One Piece: Heart of Gold) wrote the movie’s script. Series creator Eiichiro Oda was tapped to executive produce.

The feature grossed $10.9 million in its opening weekend, selling through 821,000 tickets.
