This weekend, fans gathered to celebrate all things IM@s at the “The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls 4th Live TriCastle Story” concert series. Earlier today, the event ended with an announcement that Kuma-Jet’s The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Gekijō (The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Theater) manga will receive an anime adaptation.

The series is currently slated for broadcast “around 2017.” A 90-second teaser video was released to celebrate the news:

Mankyū (Puchim@s, Fist of the North Star: Strawberry Flavor) is directing the series at studio Gathering. The original work is credited to “BanNam” (Bandai Namco), while Kuma-Jet is acknowledged for crafting the show’s original character designs.

The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls Gekijō is a five-panel gag manga series, which began publication in The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls mobile game app. The series, which is irregularly serialized, is described as a “cute, comical” manga that followed the idols’ daily lives outside of the games.

Kadokawa currently publishes collected volumes of the title under their ASCII Media Works imprint. The first book hit Japanese retailers in January 2015, while the fifth compiled volume will be released on October 27.

In addition to the anime series, the manga has inspired a mini audio drama that plays on the franchise’s official radio show.
