The folks who crafted a modern day classic are coming back for one more film.
Earlier today, film distributor Toho announced that Tomihiko Morimi’s novel, Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome (The Night is Short, So Walk, Girl), will receive an anime film adaptation. The feature is set to open in Japanese theaters on April 7.

Toho also published a visual for the film, which we’ve provided below:
Masaaki Yuasa (Ping Pong, Mind Game) was tapped to direct the feature, with Yusuke Nakamura (Tatami Galaxy) providing character designs. Makoto Ueda is writing the film’s script. Asian Kung-Fu Generation will perform the film’s theme song.
Previously, the confirmed staffers collaborated on 2010 series The Tatami Galaxy. Yusuke Nakamura also designed the cover for the Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome novel.
Toho also confirmed that Gen Hoshino will play lead character “Senpai.”
Tomihiko Morimi’s Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome novel hit stores in 2006 under Kadokawa’s imprint. Over 1.2 million copies have been produced since it began publication. The book won Yamamoto Shugoro Prize and second place in 2007’s Japan Booksellers’ Awards.
Tomihiko Morimi is also known for his work on The Ecccentric Family novels.
