Remember Panty & Stocking? They’re back! In merch form!
Last month, Gainax West launched a teaser campaign on Twitter. The studio tweeted an image, which features a silhouette of Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt protagonists Panty and Stocking along with the words “Comming [sic] Soon”.
At the time, Gainax West noted that they would reveal “early information” once the tweet received 5,000 Retweets, or Gainax West exceeded 2,000 followers. Whichever came first. They shattered that record within the hour. The tweet currently stands at 37,997 Retweets and 22,235 Likes. Gainax West’s Twitter account stands at over 8,000 followers.
Shortly after reaching their goal, Gainax West account revealed that they would reveal more details on the project on December 16.
Which brings us to today.
Earlier today, Gainax West unveiled their three-step plan for Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt:

- Panty & Stocking Exhibition
- Panty & Stocking café at the Kobe Anime Street shopping center
The first step appears to be moving forward already. Manufacturer MS Factory, who offer a line of Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt dakimakura (“hug pillows”), released new keychains and clear files for the property today. You can check images of these out below:

Gainax West, which is based in Kobe, opened their doors in March. The branch is headed by producer Yasuhiro Takeda (Gurren Lagann, Gunbuster 2: Diebuster).
Panty & Stocking With Garterbelt is an original series from Gainax, which aired during the Fall 2010 broadcast season. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill) directed the series, which features character designs by Atsushi Nishigori (Gurren Lagann). Internal team Geek Fleet was in charge of series composition.
Funimation currently holds the domestic rights to the series. They describe it as:
Panty and Stocking – the Anarchy Sisters – are two nasty angels who got booted from the pearly gates for being foul-mouthed bitches! Now they spend their nights blowing up ghosts in the seedy abyss between Heaven and Earth. Panty likes sex, Stocking likes sweets, their afro-sporting main man Garter Belt has a fetish we can’t mention. Together, they’re turning the mean streets of Daten City into a buffet of bodily fluids.
Ghosts don’t stand a chance against their lingerie of mass destruction, and if this debaucherous duo can collect enough Heaven Coins, they just might get their halos back. It’s a slim chance in hell, but anything can happen when you’re rolling commando, especially with Panty and Stocking!
