First “Ai Mai Mi: Surgical Friends” PV Hits The Web


It’s time to take a trip to the insane, possibly household cleaner-fueled world of Ai Mai Mi.

Earlier today, the official Ai Mai Mi: Surgical Friends NicoNico channel updated with a new promotional video. The minute-long teaser gives a brief glimpse into the madness of the series.

Ai Mai Mi: Surgical Friends will be a short form series, with each five minute episode airing on AT-X at 11:30PM starting January 3. TV Saitama, tvk, KBS Kyoto, and Sun TV will also air the show, along with digital platforms Niconico, Bandai Channel, d Anime Store, and U-NEXT.

Ai Mai Mi is based on Choboraunyopomi’s manga series of the same name. Itsuki Imazaki (Beyblade the Movie: Fierce Battle, Magical Somera-chan) will serve as director, writer, producer, character designer, and animation director at studio Seven. Dream Creation is in charge of production, while studio On Lead handles sound production.

Nine roles were previously confirmed:

  • Ai Ebihara: Yuka Otsubo
  • Mai: Aya Uchida
  • Mii: Maaya Uchida
  • Ponoka: Ai Kayano
  • Chobo-sensei: Neeko
  • Nanako: Sayaka Nakaya
  • Sachie: Ayane Sakura
  • Chojiro: Mirai Sasaki
  • Various Roles: Seitaro Mukai

The first season aired in 2013, while sequel show Ai Mai Mi Mousou Catastrophe aired in 2014. Crunchyroll currently streams both seasons of the show on their digital platform. They describe it as:

Three girls in the manga club, Ai, Mai, and Mii, battle with evil Earth invaders, face off against rivals in tournaments, and might not actually draw any manga.
