Earlier today, the official Japanese Sword Art Online The Movie -Ordinal Scale- website updated with a new main visual. The image features Kirito and Asuna standing before a virtual cityscape.
Sword Art Online The Movie -Ordinal Scale- will hit Japanese theaters on February 18. Starting January 21, Aniplex will open a new round of advanced ticket sales for the feature in Japan. Fans who purchase from the new round will receive a B3-sized poster of the new visual, as well as pieces of character art featuring Kiriso, Asuna, and new character Yuna. Ticket sales for the North American theatrical run opened earlier this month. The film will début on March 9 as a one-day “Fathom Event”, which will serve as a launch for a wider national release. Prior to the March 9 event, Aniplex will host a première event on March 1, in Hollywood.
Sword Art Online the Movie -Ordinal Scale- was first unveiled at the Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival on October 4, 2015. Tomohiko Ito is directing the feature at A-1 Pictures, with character designs by Shingo Adachi. Series creator Reki Kawahara is penning the film’s story.
