Nekopara OVA Gets New 90-Second Promo Video


Get ready to purr with excitement! Wait… I didn’t think that one through.

Earlier today, Neko Works started streaming a promotional video for the upcoming Nekopara OVA. The 90-second teaser offers a brief glimpse of the title in motion.

Nekopara is being crowd-funded on Kickstarter. Sekai Project launched the drive on December 28, with a funding goal of $100,000. The drive beat its initial target within an hour of opening.

Rather than use traditional stretch goals, Sekai Project announced that they will extend the OVA by ten minutes for every $100,000 raised, up to $500,000. The title reached the $500,000 milestone, ensuring a that 60-minute feature will be produced. New stretch goals have since been unveiled:

  • $600,000: Subtitles in Russian French, Spanish, Korean, German, and Portuguese
  • $800,000: Greenlight production of a mini visual novel, which focuses on Chocola and Vanilla as children
  • $1,000,000: Produce an anime short based on the visual novel produced at the $800,000 level

The Kickstarter campaign will remain active through February 11. Funding currently stands at $562,053 across 4,891 backers, with an average contribution of $114.92 per backer. Sekai Project currently aims to release the OVA by December 2017.

Nekopara will be based on Neko Works’ erotic visual novel series of the same name. As of press time, staff for the project has yet to be announced. The staff for the upcoming promotional video, though, is as follows:

The first Nekopara visual novel hit Japanese stores on December 29, 2014. The sequel, Nekopara Vol. 2, was released on February 19, 2016.

Sekai Project currently distributes the Nekopara visual novels in North America. They describe the series as:

What’s NEKOPARA? Why, it’s a cat paradise! Kashou Minaduki, the son of a long line of Japanese confection makers moved out to open his own shop “La Soleil” as a patisserie. But upon moving out, hidden amongst his things were two of the catgirls, Chocola and Vanilla, that the family had been raising. When he tried to send them back, they begged and pleaded until he gave in and now they’ve opened La Soleil together. With two catgirls who really, REALLY love their master trying their very best and occasionally failing — a heartful comedy opens for business!
