Sailor Moon’s made her way to the United States! Now, she’s setting her sights on the vast lands of Canada.

Earlier today, Viz Media revealed that Sailor Moon R: The Movie (Sailor Moon R Movie: Promise of the Rose) will receive a theatrical run in Canada. The Cineplex theater group will start screening the film on March 1.

As of press time, specific showtimes have yet to be announced.

Sailor Moon R: The Movie is a sequel to the Sailor Moon R TV series. Series director Kunihiko Ikuhara (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Penguindrum) directed the feature at Toei Animation and TV Asahi, with Kazuko Tadano (Wedding Peach, Dancougar – Super Beast Machine God) providing character designs. Sukehiro Tomita (Ceres, Celestial Legend, Kimagure Orange Road) wrote the film’s screenplay.

Sailor Moon R: The Movie originally hit Japanese theaters in May 1993. Pioneer Entertainment released the feature in North America on DVD.

Viz Media started screening the film in North American theaters yesterday. The movie is being shown along with anime short Make Up! Sailor Guardians. Blu-Ray and DVD releases of Sailor Moon R: The Movie are currently slated to hit stores on April 18.
