Second Season of Gundam Thunderbolt In The Works: New PV, Cast, & Visuals Unveiled

Anyway, bad jokes aside, a second season of the Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt OVA series is in the works. The series’s official website updated last night with a 30-second promo video, which previews the upcoming fifth episode.

In addition to the trailer, the site updated with a new visual for the season, which you can check out below:

Three new cast members are confirmed for the season, including:

  • Bianca Carlisle: Yurina Furukawa
  • Vincent Pike: Tomokazu Sugita
  • Billy Hickham: Ryota Ohsaka

The second season of Gundam Thunderbolt was officially unveiled in November with a short promo teaser, which features the tagline “The war isn’t over yet…”

Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt is based on Yasuo Ohtagaki’s manga of the same name. The series is being helmed by Gundam UC director Kou Matsuo at Sunrise. Hirotoshi Takaya (Texhnolyze) is providing character designs, while the team of Morifumi Naka (A Wind Named Amnesia, Texhnolyze), Seiichi Nakatani (Gundam 00), and Hajime Katoki (Gundam Wing, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team) handles mechanical designs. Scripts were written by director Kou Matsuo.

The first episode of the series was released in subtitled format on Christmas day 2015, at noon Japan local time. Episode 2 hit digital storefronts on February 12, at noon Japan local time. The third episode was released on March 18, while the finale hit digital storefronts on April 28.

In North America, Daisuki is distributing episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt for digital rental. The series, which will is available on Google Play, Amazon Instant Video, and the PlayStation network, is available in all territories outside of Japan and China. The current per-episode rental fee is $6.99 for a 72 hour viewing period.
