If we’re going to the beginning, what came before the atom?

Earlier today, the official Atom The Beginning anime website updated with a new key visual. The image features lead characters Umataro Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu standing in their lab. A106 stands stoic in the background.

The series will make its début on NHK on April 15, at 11:00PM local time. The first episode will hit Amazon Prime Video two and a half hour later, at 1:30AM on April 16.

Atom the Beginning is based on Tetsuro Kasahara’s manga of the same name. Tatsuo Sato (Bodacious Space Pirates, Martian Successor Nadesico) is directing the series at Oriental Light and Magic, Production I.G and Signal.MD. Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Trigun, Overlord) is providing character designs, while Jun’ichi Fujisaku (Blood+, Moshidora) takes charge of series composition.

The show is being produced in coöperation with Tezuka Productions. Makoto Tezuka, Osamu Tezuka’s son, is in charge of supervision and project planning cooperation. Patlabor co-creator Masami Yuuki and Osamu Tezuka are both credited with the original concept.
