Clockwork Planet Promotional Video Announces fripside as OP Theme Performers

I have to admit that I’m a pretty simple creature who can be swayed by the tiniest of details. Let’s take for instance the upcoming series from Xebec titled Clockwork Planet which is set to première on April 6th.

In this futuristic series, the world has been so overdeveloped by technology the entire surface of the planet has been turned into one big machine. Living in this world is high school dropout but genius tinkerer, Naoto. One day, a box crashes into his home which he discovers contains a female automaton.

So right away my excitement for this series is fairly low. It could be good or it could be bad but either way I’m not exactly chomping at the bit to see the first episode. Then this got posted and my worldview changed due to one simple song…

You heard your ears correctly; as announced in this promotional video fripside will be performing opening theme song clockwork planet. If it means I get to listen to a new song by fripside for 90 seconds each week, you can be damn sure that I’ll be at least checking out the first couple of episodes. Like I said, I’m a simple creature.

To be fair, the crew for this series is nothing to sneeze at. Animation will be produced by Xebec (BanG Dream!, Negima!, Nyaruko: Crawling With Love! and other titles that don’t have exclamation points in this). Additionally, Tsuyoshi Nagasawa will be leading the charge as director with Kenji Sugihara (Series composition: Shiki, Script: Himouto! Umaru-chan) handling series composition.

Meanwhile in the cast, the roles of Naoto and RyuZU (the male and female leads respectively) will be played by Yoshino Nanjou (Nekohime in And you thought there is never a girl online?, Eli Ayase in Love Live!) and Ai Kakuma (Lala in Monster Musume).
